ESSENTIAL TRAVEL APPS

Technology has made my travel life quite convenient. I couldn’t imagine being able to travel with ease without the help of multiple apps. My favorite travel apps are listed below.

SMART TRAVELER

Official State Department App for US Travelers. Gives access to frequently updated official country information, travel alerts, travel warnings, maps, U.S Embassy locations etc

Most of my flights are booked on a whim and this part has become essential in getting prepared for my trips – especially if a Visa is required prior to arrival. I have been redirected to some embassy websites where I have paid and received my electronic visas for Australia and and Turkey from the app.

ROME2RIO

Trip Planner that helps you get from point A – B worldwide. The app instantly displays flight, train, bus, ferry and driving options with estimated travel times and fares.

XE CURRENCY

Converts every world currency with real time exchange rates. Works offline (per last update during connection)

UNIT PLUS

Metrics converter: Area, Data, Fuel-Mileage, Length, Power, Pressure, Speed, Temperature, Currency, Time, Volume and Weight Mass. This has become very useful to me as there is no more guess work trying to figure common conversions for different country metrics.

GOOGLE TRANSLATE

Text translation/Instant Camera language translation. This app has been very helpful to me when traveling to countries with languages I don’t speak or understand. I love that it works offline as well for moments when WiFi is sketchy or unavailable.

MAPS.ME

Free, fast, detailed and entirely offline maps with turn-by-turn navigation.

PRIORITY PASS

This app is designed to help Priority Pass Members find an airport lounge any time. I research the lounges in advance and find out exactly where a lounge is located saving me time.

LOUNGE BUDDY

This app allows travelers to view, book and access airport lounges around the world in seconds. This one is great for non-priority Pass members who have no lounge access for purchase.

AIRBNB

Easily one of my favorites. I have found amazing and unique listings for at very reasonable prices. Book accommodation listings ranging from cottages, condos, villas, castles, private rooms etc.

MOMONDO

Search for the lowest airfare deals.

DUOLINGO
